If you don't want to have to manage without the internet (or your reason for living!) in your next home, think about anticipating your departure (don't leave everything until the day before you leave...). Moving and the internet: how to stay connected?

Do you want to know how to move house and transfer your internet at the same time? Firstly, there’s some good news, you don’t have to cancel your internet subscription. If you’re happy with your current deal, you can request a transfer to your next flat, as long your internet provider covers the area you’re moving to (if you’re moving to a white zone you’re out of luck!). There are no specific charges to pay if you keep the same supplier with the same deal. On the other hand if you’re moving into a new home that’s never been connected get your credit card t the ready! (on average, it costs between 39 and 70 euros). If your current supplier is not available in your new town and you need to cancel your subscription before the end of the contract, rest assured, the Chatel law dictates that you can do so without blowing your savings.

When should I request a line transfer?

If your departure is planned well in advance, don't leave it until the last minute (we know you...)! You can notify your internet provider 1 or 2 months before you leave the house. In any case, the latest deadline for notifying your operator is 15 days before the big day. If they’re aware of your departure in time, you’ll have internet access within 2 to 3 weeks of your move on average (be brave, you’ll survive!). We don't want to scare you, but this time may vary depending on your deal, type of internet connection (ADSL, fibre), location etc. If, however, you choose a Nemea Appart'Etud student residence, you can rest assured that you’ll have internet access as soon as you arrive in your flat (isn't life great?).
