STUDENT LIFE
Covid restrictions and student residence life: what's it like?
Sharing
Lockdown, another lockdown, freedom and curfews... it's not easy to keep up, is it? Gone are the student parties and in their place are video chat apéritifs and distance learning courses. While this is convenient for some, for others it's a tough situation. Still, we have to try and stay positive and make the best of things. Nemea can help you stay the course!
Restrictions applied in student residences
Distance learning and other new rules... are you at your wits' end? The advantage of a student residence is that you won't be alone. Other students are going through the same thing as you, and everything is set up to welcome you in the best possible conditions. In NEMEA's residences, online events are organised to maintain links between tenants. Of course, student residences are not exempt from increased hygiene measures: having hand sanitiser available, wearing masks in common areas and all that goes with it. We've got those preventative measures off pat!
Social media addicts get your smartphones ready and keep up to date with your residence's news. That way you'll know what's happening at all times and how it affects your residence.
Tips for getting through this time and staying motivated
It's time to get motivated! Think of it as an advantage: it's an opportunity to take some time for yourself, to work on your courses, to discover new passions...
When you stay at home, working in your own little cocoon, there's a risk of letting bad habits get the better of you. But, as you can imagine that's not for the best. The key to being effective is being well organised. So don't feel guilty if you can't work. It's normal for some days to be less productive than others, you just don't want it to become an everyday occurrence! If you're having trouble keeping up with your classes remotely, head to your dorm's coworking room for a change of scenery and to see some new faces.
You're not much of a runner, but you're still looking to get some exercise and relieve some stress? There are plenty of videos and online sports programmes available for you to take part in an activity at home. There are even distance learning cooking courses! Who knows, maybe you'll discover a new passion?
Finding it increasingly difficult to fall asleep? It's not always easy to get to sleep when you're staring at a screen all day. Remember feeling out of it that Friday morning when you arrived in class and all you wanted to do was sleep, even if it was just for an hour? Trying to keep regular, healthy sleep cycles is really important. It's the basis of everything!
